Remember 11 years ago, how in the midst of horrific tragedy, we Americans came together and were one? We put aside divisive politics and all our other differences and saw each other as only Americans. Republicans, democrats and independents all gathered to dig in the rubble for survivors. They hugged one another in grief. Look, 9/11 was unspeakably awful, but I miss the way we banded together as one. America, we have it within ourselves to be better. We have decency and character and goodness but I just wish it didn’t take something as awful as 9/11 to bring it out in us. The slogan today is “never forget” but I say don’t just remember, ACT. Smile. Help. Love. Let’s show the world what America is really made of.
